Nelly Furtado lullabyed the world with her first hit single “I’m Like A Bird”. The song offered a new mix of rhythm and beats, which instantly make the song rise above the normal pop and rock music that has been dominating the 90’s. “I’m Like A Bird” also has captivating lyrics to go with the great musicality of the song. Plus, Nelly’s unique voice perfectly blends with her unique type of music.
Why the different music? Nelly’s music is influenced by a lot of culture. Nelly was born and raised in Canada and has a Portuguese descent. She was also a big fan of Brazilian music. Nelly Furtado has been engaged since July 2007 to Cuban sound engineer Demacio "Demo" Castellon whom she met when he worked on her hit album "Loose" in 2006. A source shared, "Nelly was partying backstage with Natasha Bedingfield and Timbaland. She was so happy and there was no missing the gold band on her finger." The source further adds, "Natasha took her hand and looked at it and then hugged her and whispered something in her ear. It looked like she was congratulating her." Says Nelly Furtado, "The Grammy Awards are like the senior prom of the music business, only they happen every single year. Who wouldn't want to be invited to the prom? I was prom queen in high school, so I am thrilled and honoured." Does she really have to say she was prom queen back in high school?? Hehe! But since Nelly Furtado's "Get Loose World Tour" is over, you have to wait for months (or years) before she'll do another tour. But fear not! The singer has just released her very first live album and DVD! All of the materials were culled from her tour so it's just like you're watching her live. Said Nelly Furtado: "For the last eight years I'd never really traveled with a full production of lights, visuals and dancers. But this tour I had all of it, which was a real treat." The discs will include her cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy", previously unreleased in the USA. There is also a 30 minute documentary featured on the disc. You wanna know why? Coz it's the time everything is coming up with to sell, singers and artists not exempted! Hehe! And the latest singer to release a "rehashed" DVD is none other Nelly Furtado. According to reports, the diva diner will release a DVD entitled "Loose: The Concert" and will hit stores this coming November 20. The DVD features Nelly Furtado recorded live during a show in Montreal, Quebec. If you can't wait for the DVD, you can view a clip of your favorite singer performing "All Good Things" here. In other news, Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous" was determined to be the top 2 hit in a list compiled by the radio tracking firm Mediaware. According to the company, at its 2006 peak, her single was spun 10,306 times in a single seven-day period, a record which Timbaland's "Apologize" topped by 25 spins last week. The MTV Europe Music Awards 2007 was held last November 1 and Canadian singers won big-time. Among them is Nelly Furtado who sported an ultra-feminine look at the said awards show. She looked more like Madonna with her long blond hair full of curls and absolutely beautiful makeup. The 28-year old singer wore a Greek-inspired brown gown with a golden studded neckline. Nelly Furtado looked perfect! Anyway, she won Album of the Year for her work on "Loose" on the awards ceremony held at Munich, Germany. "I know I always cry but this actually means so much to me," the uber-talented singer said while accepting the award. Nelly Furtado adds: "Thank you so much, I love you." Other big winners include the Canadian grungy pop princess Avril Lavigne as best solo artist and having the "most addictive track", Linkin Park as the top band, and Muse as the best live act. Last Sunday, the Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMA) was held at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada and guess who won one of the international achievement awards? None other than the bad girl of R&B, Nelly Furtado! Diana Krall and Jann Arden also got the same award. Unfortunately, fans of the three stars were disappointed coz their idols weren’t their to personally receive their awards. Nelly Furtado just accepted the honor with a pre-recorded video.
In other Nelly Furtado news, Samsung has this contest that if you win, your video will be edited and become part of Nelly’s Do It video remix. Super cool! All you have to do is capture footage of people dancing next to Edinburgh Castle and make a 15-20 minute film about it. The winner will have their movie posted on YouTube under Samsung's name and be given a Samsung phone, aside from being included in Nelly’s vid. So, whatcha waiting for? Sorry Nelly Furtado fanatics but your favorite star definitely has attitude! According to celebrity restaurateur Guy Rubino, Nelly is among the worst-behaved diners in showbiz along with Justin Timberlake. Justin apparently insisted on ordering off the menu while Nelly acted like a diva. Both diners misbehaved in Mr. Rubino’s eatery Rain in Toronto, Canada. The most-behaved celebrities were Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones who were always “very polite”.
Mr. Rubino claims that “[Nelly] made a reservation for 10 guests. She showed up an hour late with five extra people in tow. For parties that size, we do a prix-fixe type of menu.” Apparently the singer objected to it and according to Mr. Rubino, “[Nelly] was really rude about it. She expected individual dishes to be prepared. Her manager even came into the kitchen and had the gall to say, 'Just [bleep] do it!’ I told her that she and her client could just [bleep] leave." Tsk! That’s not good for your image Nelly! Or is it?? Diva perfection! Lol! |
